Staring at Sagebrush

Day 21 – 9/14/19

32.7 miles / 422.1 total

What a long day of staring at sagebrush with a heavy pack. The first part of the day cruised along easily enough, though I missed a turn and went about a mile down a road in the wrong direction before realizing it. I cross countried my way back to the correct road, which may have been more effort than just returning via that road to where I’d missed the turn in the first place.

Good one!

In the afternoon I entered the Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge. I did not see much of any wildlife, but at least there weren’t any cows!

Not the Wildlife Refuge those dbags took over in 2016.

The last 7 miles of the day were ankle busting, heel blister irritating cross country. My goal for the day was to just get to the end of these cross country miles, and I made it just after 7pm as the horizon was turning pink.

I was so damn hungry all day. I think the lack of a good town food refeed in Frenchglen is hitting me hard right now. I’m daydreaming of all the food I’m going to order in Plush in 2 days.
