Middle Sister: Take II

6/6/15

Bubbles and I both had unfinished business with Middle Sister – she had an aborted attempt last year, and I had one two weeks ago. Armed with a free weekend and the world’s most perfect weather forecast for peak streaking, we set out again.

What a difference 2 weeks makes. Much snow has melted since Memorial Day weekend and consequently, the mosquitoes have hatched!  Thankfully once above treeline they disappeared and we were left with sunny skies and nicely consolidated snow, very unlike my previous wet slab avy fest.  We saw probably 10 others climbing throughout the day, but had the summit all to ourselves.

On the way down we had plenty of time for other shenanigans, like blowing bubbles and diving into the glacier melt lake.

Wow, very cool. Neat that you had better conditions to give it a second whirl. That lake must have been unbelievably cold! Arrgggh.
