Outrunning the Fires

Day 121 – 8/21/13 – 19.1 mi (2182.9)

The longer you stay in town, the harder it is to leave. We of course had good intentions of leaving by mid morning, but didn’t get out of the cabin until checkout time at 11:00. LoveNote and I were ready to go first so we hitched out on our own. Three hitches later, we were back at the trailhead where we left off, and it was after 1:00pm.

The trail was pretty gentle and we got to water 19 miles in by 8pm. We’re losing daylight quickly now and it’s not practical to walk so late anymore. The moon rose tonight with a brilliant orange glow in all the smoke from the many fires burning in Idaho. So far none are presenting any danger to our route, but we’ll have to keep checking for updates.
