Dig a hole, dig a hole in the meadow

Day 91 – 7/22/13 – 22.6 mi (1604.3)

We slept in a bit today to enjoy the morning sun on the Cirque of the Towers. Then it was a slow steep climb out of the bowl and over Texas Pass. The views were great and well worth the extra effort for this alternate route.

The rest of the day was much easier walking. I think we were all a bit tired from yesterday, however, so we were pretty generous with our breaks today. Rockin’ found time to go swimming 4 times!

Roughy 80% of all our conversations end up on the topic of poop, so when a discussion starts out talking about poop, you know it’s going to be good. During afternoon break, LoveNote wanted to prove that Stryder’s potty trowel was not worth the extra ~10oz over hers, so she challenged him to a cat hole digging contest. This was a great way to kill 5 minutes. But a serious question came out of the contest: is the 6in depth to be measured from the bottom of the hole, or the top of the poop deposited in the hole? Something to add to our “google in town” list.

We stopped to camp a bit earlier tonight near a nice lake. It was a nice to slow down a bit and enjoy the scenery.
