Into the snow

Day 37 – 5/29/13 – 17.5 mi (671.3)

I woke up about 5am…to the sound of ice hitting my tent. This set the tone for the day.

We climbed out of our sheltered campsite into strong wind and mist along the ridge. While at the top of this ridge, the clouds broke and we got a little sun.

The rest of the day was still very cold and windy, and the sun came and went. We took only short breaks and huddled for warmth.

The miles were slow as expected as we slogged through snow and figured out navigation. There was plenty of postholing and wet feet, but we were also rewarded with some great views. And we saw a ptarmigan.

It’s really cold, so LoveNote and I are sardining in my tent tonight for warmth.
