The Bob

Day 135 – 9/4/13 – 28? mi (2492.7)

After about 7 miles on the CDT, during which we heard lots of elk bugling and saw lots of grizzly prints, we had to turn off onto an alternate that no CDT hiker would ever normally take because it bypasses the iconic feature of the Bob Marshall Wilderness, the Chinese Wall. Two seperate fires actively burning in the area have closed the trail to this area.

The detour has actually turned out to be pretty great so far. The views up to and over White River Pass were the best scenery we’ve had in a long time. We stopped for lunch at the top of the pass and dried out our wet gear (it rained last night). We also took our shirts off for lunch, after all it is Why Not? Wednesday.

It’s hard to know how many miles we walked today, because we don’t have real maps for this detour. LoveNote, Burly and I ended up walking late because we couldn’t find a campsite and water when we would’ve liked to stop.
