Welcome to Washington!

Day 130 – 9/4/11 – 25 miles (2180)

Elevation wise, Cascade Locks is the lowest point on the PCT at 180ft. And thus, there was nowhere to go but up today. Despite all the climbing, we made our mileage goal in pretty good time. From here on out, we have to stay on schedule, for we’ve bought our plane tickets home!

Our packs are heavy with 6 days of food, the longest stretch we’ve had for quite a while. Also, I switched out my tent to my MSR Hubba in anticipation of potential bad weather. That means an additional 2 pounds of weight I wasn’t carrying before. To compensate, I ditched some stuff I don’t really need anymore, including sunscreen, flip flops, nail clippers, and soap. It sounds silly, but the little stuff does add up.

We had a nice night in camp with pleasant temperatures, no mosquitos, and an owl spotting.
