Riding into the Sunrise

Day 72 – 5/24/16
30.3 miles biked
362.8 total

last night’s moonrise

Out last day!! We got up early to beat the traffic and wind. The sunrise was beautiful, and we had some really nice bike path the last 10 miles or so. We stopped at the entrance to Arches National Park, the park we started this whole adventure at, and took a celebratory photo. Just a few more miles through Moab to our car…and then it was over.

3 more miles of dirt road

back to where we started!

Thanks for following along!! We had a blast on the Hayduke and sharing our experience. I’ll probably blog a trip home/ epilogue type post…we’ve definitely got some more adventuring in our future.

Had a great time following you on your journey and hate to see it come to an end. Will be interesting to see what you are planning next.

  2. Well Done! We have loved every minute of your adventure after we got over feeling like a couple of old slugs. You are inspiring me, atleast, to seize more out of my life even if I don’t ever thru hike. Keep the fabulous adventures, your unsinkable spirits and wonderful pictures coming, we so enjoy following you, DNR. (and now, Bubs and Pinup too) Thanks again for the great ‘ride’.

Thanks so much for sharing your adventure! I’m reading a number of blogs, right now, but yours was always the one I read first! So much fun! I’ll be missing your antics, until next time!

Congratulations! Carrot pointed me in the direction of your blog so I started at the beginning and have been following along. What a great idea to bike back to the start after your thru hike! I expect it was a nice way to re-enter your “old” life. Keep on hiking and keep on blogging!

I’ve followed your adventure from start to finish and have been so inspired be the stories pictures and challenges which you all have taken on and over come. Thanks for letting us come along with you.

    Happy travels

Congratulations to both of you, Buns, and Pin-up!!! You’re extraordinary people indeed. Please include an update on Pin-up too. Thank you for sharing your awesome journey!

  8. I will miss this trip.. yesterday I read your entire PCT blog, which was good, and shows that you have evolved as a blogger .. Will read of your home after the PCT and hope to hear of future adventures.

I hope you continue to cross paths with those who shared some much on each hike.

Following Nancy it seems she now knows so many people who have become friends, and they certainly enhanced her recent months in New Zealand.

So I know you have much in your future!!!

Of course, as your mom, I looked forward to reading all your posts because then I know you are alive and well. I loved all the pictures. (Well, except the scarier ones) I know they’ll be more adventures in your future! Glad to have gotten to know Bubs and Pinup!

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I live in an apartment in New York City and my idea of camping is staying at the Motel 6 instead of a Westin, but for some reason I am obsessed with long-distance hiking blogs. I think I’m a hero if I file a story on my phone on a train and yet you are doing this – with AMAZING photographs, what a tremendous eye you have – in the middle of NOWHERE. Thank you again.

Loved the moon rise and sunrise pictures. This trip was great and appreciate the photos. Look forward to your next trip. Perhaps your mom doesn’t.

Thanks for the great blog and the wonderful pictures, it was a treat! I read Carrot’s blog and it was fun to see two different views of the Hayduke. I’m looking forward to your next adventure.

The triumphal photo “back to where we started!”. You two are so rad. And so is Pinup. Will miss not having this blog to read each day but I’m sure encouraged by your last words “I’ll probably blog a trip home/ epilogue type post…we’ve definitely got some more adventuring in our future.” Can’t wait to hear about it.

Congratulations to you both, your now official Haydukers and then some! And what a great idea to bike back to where you started from; full circle you’ve been.

This adventure has been a lot of fun for ME! Great pictures and I was especially interested in the ride back to Moab. That is great that you did something new to you.
